Synovial fluid acid uric and synovial fluid-to-serum uric acid ratio in gouty patients
Main Article Content
Abstract
A cross-sectional study was conducted on 61 patients with gout to describe synovial fluid uric acid levels, the synovial fluid-to-serum uric acid ratio, and associated factors. Synovial fluid uric acid was consistently higher than serum uric acid (479.75 vs. 424.01 µmol/L; p < 0.001) and showed a marked difference compared with the osteoarthritis group. The mean synovial fluid-to-serum uric acid ratio in gout patients was 1.16 ± 0.18, significantly higher than the osteoarthritis group (0.99 ± 0.08). Synovial fluid uric acid and serum uric acid demonstrated a very strong positive correlation (r = 0.881; p < 0.001), whereas the synovial fluid-to-serum uric acid ratio showed a moderate negative correlation with serum uric acid (r = -0.539; p < 0.001).
