Surgical correction for the supracardiac type in total anomalous pulmonary vein connection in neonates: Longterm outcomes at Vietnam National Children’s Hospital
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study was conducted to evaluate the longterm outcomes of surgical repair for neonates who were diagnosed with the supracardiac type of total anomalous pulmonary venous return at Vietnam National Children’s Hospital from 2011 to 2025. One hundred sixteen patients were retrospectively collected in our study with the median age and weight of patients were 8 days old (IQR, 2.0 - 17.2 days) and 3.1 kg (2.8 - 3.4 kg), respectively. There were 9 in-hospital deaths (7.8%), and 10 late deaths (8.6%). The mean time of follow-up was 3.75 years, with 16 patients (13.8%) who needed reoperation due to pulmonary venous obstruction. Despite favorable early outcomes, late mortality continues to be considerable following surgical repair for the supracardiac type of total anomalous pulmonary venous return in the neonatal period.
