Physical activity status and associated factors among students at Hanoi Medical University in 2025
Main Article Content
Abstract
This cross-sectional study aimed to determine the prevalence of insufficient physical activity (PA) among students at Hanoi Medical University according to World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations and to identify associated factors. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 867 students at Hanoi Medical University using the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ). Factors associated with insufficient PA were identified using logistic regression analysis. Findings indicated 35.2% of students had insufficient PA according to WHO recommendations. The prevalence was significantly higher among female students (43.0%) compared to male students (24.7%) (p < 0.05). Several associated factors, including gender (OR = 2.2), lack of regular interaction with peers who exercise frequently (OR = 1.5), and limited access to sports and exercise facilities at their residence (OR = 1.6) increased the risk of physical inactivity among students. Therefore, appropriate interventions should be developed to promote physical activity among students at Hanoi Medical University.
