Asymptomatic hyperuricemia and associated factors in male patients at Hanoi Medical University Hospital
Main Article Content
Abstract
To evaluate asymptomatic hyperuricemia and associated factors in male, we studied 798 male patients who visited Hanoi Medical University Hospital from January 2020 to May 2021. A cross-sectional descriptive study was applied. Results shown that the rate of asymptomatic hyperuricemia was 41.4%, the average uric acid concentration in plasma was 405.2 ± 81.2 µmol/l (maximum: 820 µmol/l). Asymptomatic hyperuricemia was the most common in men aged 40 to 59 years (accounting for 48.3%). Alcohol consumption, hypertension, overweight/ obesity, dyslipidemia are risk factors for hyperuricemia (with p value < 0.05). There was a positive correlation between uric acid level and total cholesterol, triglyceride concentration in blood (with p value < 0.05). The state of asymptomatic hyperuricemia in men was elevated, especially in those with dyslipidemia, hypertension and alcohol consumption.
