Abstract

Breast surgery must be safe and should be individualized according to breast anthropometry and body characteristics to achieve aesthetic results. The purpose of this study is to measure the anthropometric parameters and volume of Vietnamese female breasts. This cross-sectional descriptive study enrolled 400 women from 18 to 60 years old at K Hospital. Measurements were performed with the patient sitting upright in the anatomic position based on key landmarks and breast volume was also assessed. Ptosis rate was 33.2%. Mean and median breast volumes were 356.0 ml and 263.7ml, respectively. The left breast volume was significantly larger than the right breast volume. Age, BMI and number of children were important factors in determining breast ptosis and breast volume.
