Abstract

Gastrointestinal bleeding caused by rupture of the iliac artery aneurysm into the sigmoid colon is a rare pathology and may be difficult to diagnose correctly. However, there is a high mortality rate if it is not diagnosed and treated promptly. We present a case of an 89-year-old patient admitted to the hospital for blood in his stool and was diagnosed with a ruptured aneurysm of the right common iliac artery into the sigma colon. The patient underwent urgent surgery to perform the femoro - femoral crossover, aneurysm removal and sigmoid colectomy. The process of postoperative and discharged from the hospital is uneventful. We review the diagnosis, treatments and complications of this disease.
