18. Results of "Chaihu-shugan-san" combined with "Wu-bei-san" in treating of gastroesophageal reflux syndrome

Abstract

Research was conducted to evaluate the results and side effects of the remedy "Chaihu-shugan-san" combined with “Wu-bei-san" in the clinical and subclinical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux syndrome This study was designed as a controlled interventional clinical trial, comparing before and after treatment. 60 patients diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux syndrome were divided into 2 groups, according to the method of homogenous pairing of age, gender, and degree of GERD-Q. The study group was  treated with "Chaihu-shugan-san" combined with "Wu-bei-san" at a dose of 39 g/day, the control group with Lomec (Omeprazol) dose 40 mg/day, followed up for 30 days. The results showed that in both groups, the mean score of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux syndrome and the mean score of GERD - Q decreased statistically significantly after treatment (p < 0.05) and there was no difference between the two groups (p > 0.05). No side effects of the remedy on clinical and subclinical have been found
