Abstract

Health workers with good knowledge and practice on COVID-19 prevention and control has significant contribution to control the spread of COVID-19. The study aimed to assess the level of knowledge and correct practice of healthcare workers in Vietnam about COVID-19 prevention and some associated factors in 2020. This was a cross-sectional study conducted on 21,413 health workers who directly participated in COVID-19 prevention and control at health facilities across the country by the snowball method. The study showed that the proportion of healthcare workers with adequate knowledge and good practice were 84.4% and 71.4%, respectively. Health workers who were female, young, have work experience ≥ 10 years and were at risk of exposure to COVID-19 have better knowledge about COVID-19 prevention and control. Healthcare workers with ≥ 10 years of work experience and at risk of exposure to COVID-19 have better COVID-19 prevention and control practices (p < 0.05). There was a statistically significant difference in the proportion of healthcare workers who had good knowledge and practice of COVID-19 prevention and control by gender, age, experience of work, and risk of exposure to COVID-19 (p < 0.05).
