Abstract

This prospective observation study was to analyze the risk factors for giant coronary artery aneurysms in 545 patients diagnosed with Kawasaki diseas at Vietnam National Children's Hospital. The research results notes that among 545 patients incluced in the study, 38 patients had giant coronary artery aneurysm (7%). The average age of study group was 16.4 months old, the ratio male/female Kawasaki patients approximates 1.5/1. Most patients diagnosed with Giant coronary artery aneurysms were under 12 months old. They had higher percentage of white blood cell, lower serum albumin level (which is statistically significant differences between two groups (p < 0.05)). Incomplete Kawasaki disease, late IVIG infusion after 10 days and IVIG resistance were independent predictors of giant coronary artery aneurysms in Kawasaki disease.
