Abstract

This descriptive study assessed the use of sPESI score and CRP-hs levels in predicting mortality at day 30 in patients with acute pulmonary embolism. Acute pulmonary embolism was confirmed by multislice computed tomography of the pulmonary angiography with contrast. The study was conducted among 162 patients. The average age was 57.7 ± 18.9, and 98/162 patients (60.5%) were female. There were 27 (16.7%) deaths in 30 days. The AUC of sPESI scale and CRP-hs concentration were 0.74 and 0.65, with positive diagnostic value of 22.6% and 30.2%, respectively. The combined sPESI and CRP-hs has an AUC of 0.66; the specificity was 93.3%; the predictive value of 30 days without death is 89.3%.
